The Program
When faced with the unknown, a person can and often does allow his or her negative imagination to run wild. In most cases, the surgical patient feels like a helpless victim facing a necessary evil. Fear, worry and depression often become the major stumbling blocks to a successful surgical outcome.
The Pre and Post Surgical Preparation Program employs an easy to use 3-step protocol designed to enhance your healing through relaxation, visualization and reframing your fears into positive mental images. Your completed program is an audio, guided imagery session that is based on your personal input and tailored to your specific needs and experience. You will listen to this session directly from our website. You may download it for your convenience. Using this session, your primary focus is shifted away from the surgery. The surgery becomes an ordinary event on the way to achieving your desired future outcomes.
The interview
The appointment is made for the 1 to 1 ½ hour telephone interview with one of our Dynamic Life Health Coaches. For best results, this appointment should be made at least 3 to 4 weeks prior to the surgery. A patient would still receive some benefit even as close as 1 week prior to surgery.
Conducted over the phone in the comfort of your own home, the private, one-on-one interview is used to produce a personal relaxation/healing program that you will use at least twice a day prior to surgery and as needed after the surgery.
You will be coached to use past and present experiences and relationships to form links to successful (positive) personal outcomes or goals.
Relaxation is the foundation of our program. It is important to begin the relaxation process as soon as possible. Following the personal interview you will be instructed to access the relaxation demo session directly from our website. In this way you will begin immediately by listening to this first very important relaxation session.
Within 72 hours of the interview, you will be notified by email that your complete personal program is available for access on the website. Using a unique ID and Password that we will supply you will gain exclusive access to your private page which will then display both the Progressive Relaxation session, including your Rapid Relaxation Technique, and your Pre-Surgery Preparation session.
The overall effect of the combined Relaxation/Guided Imagery session is to teach the you how to become completely relaxed and to vividly visualize and experience your desired positive outcomes as if they were happening at that very moment. Using this process the surgery becomes an ordinary (yet important) event on the way to achieving the desired future outcomes and goals that you set during the interview.
You may listen to your session directly from the website for up to 60 days. We recommend that you download it to IPOD / personal listening device, or copy it to CD so that you have a permanent record of your session. In addition you should take your session with you to the hospital for listening just before and as soon as possible after the surgery.
Or if you prefer, you may request to receive a CD of your sessions by US Express mail.
Post Surgery
Our patients continue to listen to the sessions, thereby reinforcing the results as they occur. Their newfound feeling of control makes success a self-fulfilling prophesy. Many of our patients become so comfortable with the Rapid Relaxation Technique that they continue to use it to rapidly reduce any type of stress that occurs during their day.
Relaxation
RELAXATION is a progressive process designed to reduce physical, mental and emotional stress. Patients are usually amazed at how well they can control their own stress levels. Many people routinely incorporate the relaxation part of the session into their daily lives to reduce accumulated stress build-up or the impact of stress as it occurs.
Personal Imagery
PERSONAL IMAGERY helps patients relax, focus and feel secure by linking pleasant, loving past and present experiences and relationships with the desired positive outcome of the future. The patient succeeds in “assuming” the actual surgery as a fact of life event that is necessary to get to the desired successful outcomes that are waiting for him/her in the future.
